Sight words, also called high frequency words are the words that appear with the highest frequency in written text. Automatic sight word recognition is an important component of reading. Having the ability to automatically recognize these words can dramatically increase confidence and improve reading proficiency of the beginning reader. When students automatically know a word they don't spend time trying to sound it out, and reading becomes much easier and faster!! Please watch the video below and see how hard we work as beginning readers.
